Steering Committee

The consortium research programme is coordinated by the Convenor, Professor John Govan, and Dr Alan Brown. However, the programme is managed overall by a steering committee comprising selected members of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust's expert Control of Infections Group together with Principal Investigators from each location. The steering committee meets twice a year to ensure that milestones are met by each element of the research and oversee any changes required as a consequence of changing science, and in so doing ensure that the research programmes achieve their strategic aims for the immediate and practical benefit of people with CF.

Specifically, the responsibilities of the steering committee include the following:

To oversee the scientific content of the project
To review every 6 months the achievements of each component programme against milestones
To receive notice of and respond to groundbreaking or unexpected developments in the research as they arise
To make recommendations for the practical application of research findings as they arise
To ensure the appropriate involvement of people with CF in the research & in the dissemination of research findings
To ensure that findings are disseminated widely in accordance with the requirements of the Big Lottery Fund
To ensure that the research is carried out for the public benefit and remains in the public domain
To ensure that the research is carried out in accordance with the Big Lottery Fund standard terms and conditions.
